History
Hillside Rovers was formed in October 1983 by Mike Aldous & Ray Chipperfield.
Mike was a father of a lad at Hillside school but there was no team for his lad to play in so he decided to set up a team along with a friend, Ray Chipperfield.
The team were unable to play at Hillside School so they decided to play at Thorpe High School on the pitch next to the Oasis Leisure Club.
Mike Aldous asked a young NCFC footballer called Ian Butterworth to be the Hillside Rovers President which Ian accepted.
Mike & Ray ran the team until they separated - Ray moved on with the boys as they grew, however Mike continued to run Hillside Rovers with new lads.
In 1993 Mike eventually stepped down and handed over to Paul Ingram.
A year later David & Trudi Press got involved and most notably in the season of ’96 David managed to get the Hillside Rovers to play at Hillside School with the help of the Head, Mr Clark.
David & Trudi expanded the teams to the format we have today with ages U6’s to U10’s. David also was involved in setting up the connection with St Andrews FC.
Since then the club has pretty much run as it is today.
