Away venues

This web page starts with venues that have checked more recently. Below that is a list from 2007/08; though it's likely that many away venues will be unchanged from previous seasons, it's always best to check with your year group coach.

Click on the venue name itself (old entries) or where it says 'here' (newer entries) for a map, but note that this may take you to the destination rather than the ground.

Chris Durdin

Bressingham
Approx. 40 minute drive from the school.
Leave the school and head out onto the Norwich bypass.
Take the A140 Ipswich road towards Dunston Hall and go all the way to Diss.
Turn right at the first roundabout after the first stretch of dual carrigeway signposted Diss (A1066).
Drive carefully through Diss (20/30mph) and continue on the A1066 through Roydon as well.
On reaching Bressingham, continue past the garden centre/steam centre on your left and quite soon turn right into School Lane (signposted).
At the next T junction turn right back onto the High Road. The football ground is on the left, white small village hall opposite the post office on the right.
Refreshments sometimes for sale in the first green hut near the pitch. Toilets in the white village hall are opened mid-morning.

Buxton FC

They play at Balay Park, Cubitts Meadow, Buxton with Lammas, Aylsham Rd NR10 5EF

It's not an easy ground to find. Allow 30 minutes. Two ways to get to Buxton with Lammas are:

(1) on the A140 Aylsham/Cromer road and turn right just after Hevingham, then right again.

(2) round the edge of Norwich via Old Catton and at the end of White Woman Lane head north via Hainford and Frettenham. In Buxton with Lammas, turn at the Black Lion pub (turn left if coming from the A140, right if coming via Frettenham). Go to the end of that road, turn left, and look for the ground on your left hand side.

Costessey

The ground is on Longwater Lane at its northern end, on the left just before the junction with West End in Old Costessey. Longwater Lane is off the A1074 Dereham Road (old A47), reached either by heading west along the Dereham Road from the ring road or turning east towards Norwich from the Southern Bypass.

Dereham

The directions here are still good, though it's a tricky wiggle through Dereham town centre that defies description before you to go north onto Cemetery Road. Once on that road, there's a prominent water tower and the turn left (heading north up Cemetery Road) into Northgate School is before the water tower. Within the school, find a left turn to the car park and they play on the astroturf pitch. Allow c 40 minutes. (Updated October 2011)

Drayton

Approx. 20 minute drive from the school. They play at Long Dale playing field in Thorpe Marriot, just off the Reepham Road. Either take the Reepham Road from the former Bottoms Up junction or head for the airport and turn left into Middleton's Lane and right at the next roundabout up the Reepham Road. After driving through open country you approach Thorpe Marriot. Pass the first left turn into School Road, take the next left into Long Dale. The ground is on the left. Google map here. Firside
Approx. 20 minute drive from the school.
Dead easy. Simply head towards the airport.
Once reaching the airport junction turn left instead of right into Middleton's Lane.
Firside is on the left.

Hindolveston: follow directions on www.hindolyouthfc.co.uk to Hindolveston Recreation Ground, Hindolveston, Norfolk, NR20 5DD.

Jex play at Larkman Primary School, Norwich, just off the Dereham Road. The entrance for the pitches is in Motum Road, not the main school entrance in Clarkson Road. Google map here. (Updated Dec 2009)

Lakeford play at Eaton Park, Norwich. Park at the far end near the pitch & putt off South Park Avenue.

Mulbarton
Approx. 25 minute drive from the school.
Leave the school and head into the city towards Carrow Rd.
Drive past County Hall, continue through the bypass junction and turn left at the MacDonalds roundabout onto Hall road.
Continue all the way along Hall road and at the end turn left onto the main Ipswich road at the T junction.
Pass the (new) Tesco and quite soon turn right onto the B1113 to Keswick (signposted).
Continue along this road until reaching Mulbarton.
Turn left at the village duck pond (shortly after the World's End pub on your right).
The football ground is approx 400 yards on your left after the church (village common on your right).

Old Catton play at Lavare Park on Spixworth Road. Easiest route: Blue Boar Lane, Barkers Lane, White Woman Lane and turn right up Spixworth Road.  March 2012

Poringland The club is based at Poringland Memorial Playing Field, The Footpath, Poringland, Norwich, NR14 7RF club website map but U10's play at Langley Prep School, Yarmouth Rd Norwich NR7 0EQ and U9's play at Framingham Earl High School, NR14 7QP. (November 2012)

Taverham Hinks Meadow, Taverham, Norwich, NR8 6GH. Hinks Meadow is on Kingswood Ave, the turn on the RHS before Fir Covert Road as you head out of Norwich though Taverham on the Fakenham Road.
