Match Report - Under 8's, Sat 6th October 2007 at Rocklands.
Published date - Mon 08/10/07

Rocklands 1 - 0 Hillside
Hillside 1 - 1 Thorpe
Thorpe - Rocklands

This week saw the under 8's squad travelling away to Rocklands to play both the home team and Thorpe Rovers.
The squad included the five boys from last time, Sam, Adam, Dillon, Alex and Jak joined by Connor who was back from illness and John.

Our first game was against the hosts. In the first half Hillside played some nice passing football and with that maintained the majority of the possession but unfortunately no goals were forthcoming. The second half saw much of the same with shots from Connor, John and Jak coming close.

With one of their rare incursions into the Hillside half Rocklands were awarded a free kick outside the area. This was taken well resulting in a goal. Despite more pressure Hillside were unable to find the elusive goal.
Final result 1 – 0 to Rocklands.

The second game of the morning was against local rivals Thorpe. Continuing from were they left off Hillside had the majority of the possession. Any Thorpe attack was soon dealt with by Dillon and Alex in defence, backed up by a good performance by Adam in goal.

After several near misses Hillside scored their opening goal of the season. A nicely taken corner from Jak floated into the area to be firmly planted into the net by Connor.

The second half had more near misses from Hillside. Unfortunately on a rare break the Thorpe forward made the most of his chance and levelled the score. To their credit Hillside got straight back into action and came close again and again but the ball would just not cross the line.
Final result 1 – 1 draw.

This was a superb squad performance with all playing their part and with lots of positives to take forward into the next games on 20th October.
This shall be our first home fixture and all support shall be welcome.
