This week the under 8 squad of John, Alex D, Dillon, Sam, Connor S, Zak and Jak (who bravely turned up despite being unwell in the week, thank you Jak.) travelled to Sprowston to play two of the historically strong teams in the area, Old Catton and Sprowston.

The first game was against Old Catton A who had just played Sprowston in a hard fought 1-1 draw. Hillside took a little while to get going but the strong defensive pairing of Dillon and Alex backed by some excellent goal keeping by John coped admirably with the strong Old Catton attack.

The battle for control of the middle of the pitch was also hard fought by Zak and Connor but unfortunately few chances came Hillside's way.

After two balls to the face in quick succession Alex had to be substituted and the shape of the team was lost. Whilst the new team adjusted a prolonged encampment by Old Catton in the Hillside half saw a quick succession of 3 goals go in.

The Hillside boys kept their heads up and battled on. Well done boys!!!! Final result 3-0 to Old Catton.

The second game against Sprowston was another hard fought affair, with both teams pushing hard for the win. Despite both teams having their chances the game ended in a well deserved 0-0 draw.

As with previous weeks the boys representing Hillside can be very proud of themselves for the performances they put in against what I personally feel are two of the best teams we have played so far. If we can just get the boys to believe a little bit more in themselves and to shoot for goal just a little bit sooner it will not be long before we have the first of many wins.

To sum up, it was another superb squad performance with all playing their part in two hard fought and physical games. Well done to you all, with the effort and determination you all show you are a pleasure to coach.
