Sunday 27 September 2009 at Toftwood
Toftwood 2 v 1 Hillside Rovers U10's
A gorgeous day weather-wise greeted our visit to Toftwood. We lined up with Tom in goal, Alex D and Niall at the back, Sam, Adam and Cameron in the middle and Finn up front. The game started well with both teams giving it their best shot. Tom was standing strong in goal and the partnership of Alex D with Niall ( which is new) was working well. Eventually we got a free kick just outside Toftwood's area and up stepped Cameron who didn't 'blast' it but rather chipped it over the wall which their keeper could only get his hands to but it still crossed the line with Finn helping it on its way in! 1-0 Hillside. The second half started with changes and James and Alex N came on with Finn and Adam having a break. Toftwood upped their game and scored a good equalizer. Then, in the last few minutes, Toftwood's goalie scored with a high kick that bounced over Tom's head and into the goal, just one of those things! A brave attempt and unlucky not to draw.

The same starting line up and away we went again. We played really well and although Tom made some really good saves I think we played the better. Everyone tried hard and we secured our second point of the season. Well done all.

Hillside Rovers U10's 1 v 1 Jex
The team lined up with Tom in goal, Alex D & Niall in defence, Adam, Sam and Cameron in the middle and Finn up front. These lads have been together for over a year and you can see they are really helping each other out. The game started a bit slowly with a few chances either end. It was a breezy day and HRFC had that advantage. It was quite close when a good move resulted in Finn getting the ball and he knows where the goal is , 1-0! In the second half there was a lot of defending to do. Rayne & Haixin came on and although Jex scored a goal we did well to hold on for the draw. It took us 20 games last season to get a point, it's taken us just one this time to get on the board. Well done !!
Hillside Rovers U10's 1 v 3 Spixworth.
The same line-up to start and then several changes throughout the game. It was Spixworth's first game and our second and really we just ran out of puff ( especially when Jex went on to beat Spixworth in the final game). Finn again scored so he already equals last season's top scorer who was Sam, well done Finn. Overall Eliot & I were chuffed to bits and we can see where we were a bit of a soft touch last year we're getting better all the time. Keep it up lads.
