Hillside Rovers U10's 1 v 5 Jex

There was such a torrential downpour when we'd just arrived - the rain was sweeping into the shelter (blue roof in the lower picture) - that it seemed doubtful that the matches could happen. Yet the rain did stop and eventually the sun came out, one of the few bright spots on a muddy day and two defeats. League leaders Jex deserved their 5-0 lead, which included two superb edge-of-box shots, though after putting Niall up front suddenly the Hillside team started to pass and looked a threat, and Niall's well-taken goal was richly deserved.

Hillside Rovers U10's 0 v 2 Spixworth

Spixworth quickly went 2-0 up and twice hit the goal frame. Though it was more even overall, Hillside rarely threatened, so no complaints about the result
