Year Group News - Under 10's
The Under 10's started this season thinking it was our final year at Hillside Rovers. However, plans are now well-advanced to have a 9-a-side pitch at Hillside School and to extend the Hillside Rovers age range to include U11's. This will match the school years: our final year at the school will now also be the final year of HRFC, while taking the first steps in the move to St Andrews FC
Training on Saturday mornings remains at the heart of our activities for our 18 or so boys.
For the bulk of our matches, in our second season of competitive football, we have been playing on Sundays. After last year's successful season in the North East Norfolk Youth Football League (NENYL) - see below - we returned to the Norwich Youth Football Combination (NYFC), finishing the season third in our division of eight teams. Matches are 7-a-side, usually with two subs, meaning wel need more boys on match days than last year's 6-a-side.
Boys and girls from year five are welcome to come and try us for a few weeks before deciding to join. Most of our players are from Hillside Avenue School, but we are also pleased to have some from other schools and all are very welcome. To be realistic, any new members will have limited opportunities to play in matches. Training starts at 9:30 and finish, as last season, at about 11:15, but that may vary with weather, so best to come for a pick-up at 11 am.

U10 squad, 6 October 2012
Coaches: Colin Withers, Steve Mills, Chris Durdin, Martin Seymour and Liam Butler, supported by many parents. Colin and Chris successfully completed a 4-day FA Level 1 coaches training course in summer 2009. Chris is part way through renewing the Child Protection and Emergency First Aid elements, which only last for three years.
More parents joining the team would be welcome, especially anyone prepared to take steps towards being a Level 1 qualified coach. The first stage is to have a CRB check and help out regularly and, if that works well for you and the club, to think about a coaching course later.

With a 0-5 win in the final (re-arranged) fixture against Old Catton Pumas, Hillside Rovers U9's came of their league. U9 level is the first season of competitive football. A proud moment for players, coaches and parents. |

All smiles for the winning team - both today (31 March) and their first year of competitive football.
