Year Group News - Under 8's

Keep track of the Under 8's events and dates here

With two years of training under our belts the Hillside Rovers under 8's are getting in to their stride.  This year we start regular matches with two teams in the Norwich Youth Football Combination (NYFC). For fixtures, please see the link on the fixtures page.

At this age the matches are all friendlies so results and league tables are not officially recorded. Boys who play have to be registered with NYFC. Matches are officially five-a-side involving a maximum of 10 players, including rolling subs. Match days usually involve three teams playing each other, though occasionally there are either two or four clubs involved. Our teams will play on the same date but will not play each other, and will not both play at home on the same day. All matches are on Saturday mornings.

All boys now have their own playing kit. For the 'Hillside' team it's sponsored by M&A Partners; for 'Hillside FC', the kit is sponsored by Barber Building Services. Huge thanks to both for their kind support for our kit.

We hope that as we progress through the season the boy's skills, stamina, and football begins to improve, but most importantly they have fun and enjoy their football. It's great to see the enthusiasm that comes from seven and eight year olds and we hope this will continue throughout the year.

We have around 22 boys attending, including three news boys this season. Even with a number of dads helping to coach, it's as many as we can practically look after at the moment. If you are keen to come, please contact us and you can join a waiting list.

We will be using the Hillside Rovers slot at the 3G all-weather pitch at the High School on four Saturday mornings in November and December. Please keep an eye on the pitch rota web page.

Congratulations to Andy Dodds and Paul Tink who successfully completed their 4-day FA Level 1 training course in November 2010, and to Stuart Brooks who joins the coaching team for the new 2011/12 season.
