Year Group News - Under 9's

The Under 9's are on their first season of competitive football. Our team is in in the North East Norfolk Youth Football League (NENYL), playing on Saturdays. The official start time is 10:30, though that may be varied by agreement between the clubs on occasions. Fixtures here.

With just one team that allows us to run training on Saturday mornings at Hillside as usual, which remains at the heart our activities. Training starts at 9:30 and finish, as last season, at about 11:15, but that may vary with weather, so best to come for a pick-up at 11 am.

Boys who play in the matches have to be registered with NENYL. Matches are officially six-a-side plus ' rolling' subs. Match days usually involve just two teams playing each other, though occasionally we able to arrange a second friendly if both us and our opponents have extra boys. Having been in a different league last year, it'll take a while to get to know the new teams.

Above: almost a calm moment, 12 March 2011, just before matches against Norman and Old Catton.

Boys and girls from year four are welcome to come and try us for a few weeks before deciding to join. Most of our players are from Hillside Avenue School, but we are also pleased to have some from other schools and all are very welcome.

Coaches: Colin Withers, Steve Mills, Chris Durdin and Martin Seymour, supported by many parents. Colin and Chris successfully completed a 4-day FA Level 1 coaches training course in summer 2009.

More parents joining the team would be welcome. A first step is to have a CRB check and help out regularly and if that works well for you and the club, to think about a coaching course later.

There are match reports and old news when we were U7's in the archive pages of the website.

Highlights included a win over a Taverham team and two-goal Joshua!
